Destinations
Belek: the golf capital of the Mediterranean
Between the Taurus Mountains and a turquoise sea lies Belek – a strip of coast where more than a dozen championship courses sit side by side. Add all-inclusive resorts that set global standards, 300 days of sunshine and value for money that keeps golfers from all over Europe coming back.
In little more than 25 years Belek has grown from a pine forest on the Turkish Riviera into one of the densest golf regions in Europe. Within a few kilometres you find courses by Nick Faldo, Colin Montgomerie, David Jones and Peter Thomson – many within walking distance of the hotels, most with their own clubhouse, driving range and a service culture built around the guest rather than the tee sheet.
What makes Turkey special is that golf and holiday merge. The resorts offer ultra all-inclusive with ten or more restaurants, sprawling spa worlds, private beaches and kids clubs. Play 18 holes in the morning and spend the afternoon with family, beach and hammam – with nothing to organise. The golf clubs themselves work on an all-inclusive logic: buggies, driving range and often clubhouse food and drink are included.
Getting there could not be easier: direct flights from almost every German city to Antalya take around three and a half hours, and transfers to the resorts rarely exceed 35 minutes. Off-season does not mean off-season for golf: from October to May conditions are ideal at 15 to 25 degrees, while it rains at home.
We know every resort featured here personally – from the lagoon swim-up room to the tee time on the floodlit course. Tell us what your perfect golf day looks like and we will put the right package together.
Best time to travel
Belek has a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild winters. The main golf season runs from October to May: spring (March–May) brings a pleasant 18–26 °C, autumn (October–November) 20–28 °C with mostly dry weather. December to February are very playable too at 14–18 °C with plenty of sunshine – ideal for escaping winter. In high summer (July–August) 18 holes get very warm at over 35 °C; early tee times or floodlit golf are the answer.
