Agadir & Marrakech: golf between Atlantic and Atlas

6 golf hotels6 golf courses ca. 4 Std.

Four flight hours from Germany a different world begins: palm groves in front of the snow-capped Atlas, souks and riads, the Atlantic off Agadir – and golf courses that rank among the most spectacular in the world. Morocco is the winter destination for anyone who wants to combine golf with adventure.

Marrakech is Morocco’s golf capital: more than ten courses surround the red city, many within sight of the Atlas Mountains. The Royal Golf from the 1920s tells of kings and celebrities; Al Maaden, Samanah and The Montgomerie stand for modern design with wide views. In the evening the medina, the Jemaa el-Fna and riads with roof terraces beckon.

Agadir is the relaxed alternative on the Atlantic: 300 days of sunshine, a ten-kilometre sandy beach and courses such as Golf du Soleil, Golf de l’Océan or Tazegzout on the cliffs of Taghazout. The resorts here – from the Sofitel to the Pickalbatros Palais des Roses – combine all-inclusive comfort with Moroccan hospitality.

The best time is the European winter: from October to April temperatures are 20–27 °C, the courses are green and tee times relaxed. Morocco is safe, well organised and attractively priced; we arrange transfers, tee times and excursions into the desert or the Atlas for you.

If you want to experience both worlds, combine Agadir and Marrakech – around three hours’ drive lie between Atlantic and Atlas.

Morocco is a classic winter destination: from October to April temperatures in Agadir are 20–25 °C, in Marrakech 18–28 °C, with sunshine almost every day. Agadir benefits from the Atlantic all year round – rarely above 30 °C even in summer. In Marrakech high summer reaches 35–40 °C, too hot for golf; there we recommend November to April. Rain falls mainly between November and February in short showers.
